Where in the world...?

Here you can view some selected photos in a different context. Click on a green map marker below to see a photo and a corresponding satellite image of its geographical location. You can use the controls on the upper-left of the map to zoom in or out and move around. You can also just grab the map with your cursor and drag to navigate around. Clicking on an image thumbnail will open that image in its associated gallery. You'll also see a filmstrip-bar on the right from which you can choose additional photos to map.

Some of the satellite images are far more resolute than others and those that are can be zoomed in extremely close - to the point where you can clearly see the subject of the photograph in high detail! The map images with less resolution can still give you a sense of context as to where a particular photo was captured. Enjoy!

NOTE: Give the green icons a minute to load - there's a lot of them!

Tokyo - Akihabara : Akihabura is Tokyo's famous electronics district where one can spend hours browsing for bargains on computers, peripherals, and cell phones. Akihabura is also notable as one of Tokyo's no smoking districts - smoking is prohibited even outdoors on the sidewalk and smokers are relegated to several indoor "smoking stores", as seen in a few of these photos.
